Aircraft You’ll Train In

Instrument Rating Requirements
To begin your Instrument Rating training, you must:
Hold a valid Private Pilot License (PPL).
Third Class FAA Medical or Higher, or on BasicMed
Minimum Training Requirements:
Have a minimum of 50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot-in-command (PIC).
40 hours of instrument flight time, including:
15 hours with an authorized instructor.
Cross-country flight of at least 250 nautical miles under IFR.
Pass the FAA Instrument Knowledge Test.
Cost of Training
While the total cost depends on your training pace and consistency, a typical training program includes:
Aircraft rental at $155/hour.
Instruction fees for ground and flight training.
